This past Friday May 8th and Saturday May 9th, 2026 the PEAR Lab hosted a booth at Western's 8th Annual Science Rendezvous!
Science Rendezvous is a national event that brings science into the community in a way that’s hands-on and accessible. Hosted annually in cities across Canada, Science Rendezvous creates space for researchers to connect directly with families and young learners.
At our booth, we focused on simple, hands-on activities. Kids were invited to write down something that makes them happy, complete a fun psychology worksheet, and take home a positivity sticker.
We also brought a homemade Skinner box to demonstrate reinforcement and learning, ran an Angry Birds task adapted from studies we use in our lab, and let participants try a Stroop task to experience cognitive interference for themselves.
The event organizers/volunteers did an amazing job having the event run so smoothly! The PEAR Lab can not wait to come back next year!
Thank you to our booth volunteers who made it possible to share our research with the community: Taylor Breddy, Valentina Milano, Joanna Binoy, Grace Han, Nishita Pillai, Nikki Whitehead, Ngawang Yehshopa
